Abstract

Nowadays, women participate in countless tasks and rural areas are no exception. In the pork agroindustrial system, women are involved in various activities, but there is little data that accounts for the situation. Part of the team at the Swine Activities Information Center www.ciap.org.ar carried out a on-line survey using Google Forms. The questionnaire revealed geographical location, age range, educational level; and aspects related to the work context such as: origin and type of link with the pork sector, activities carried out and time dedicated, number of people working according to gender, difficulties and challenges that they had to go through in the different work spaces. 169 responses were obtained which revealed that the majority of women work as farm staff, in maternity; They are between 26 and 40 years old, work between 25 and 40 hours a week and stated that they have difficulties working as women, that they have received derogatory comments and the biggest challenge is to continually prove that they are capable of doing the task. Having this information will allow the generation of public and private intervention policies to generate better working conditions where gender, capabilities and opportunities are respected.
