La teoría del pool de especies como base para las técnicas de enriquecimiento de pastizales: reporte de caso y revisión bibliográfica
Abstract
The enrichment of degraded grasslands by overgrazing and
other anthropogenic disturbances is a very important objective of the use,
management and conservation of these vegetation systems. The restoration of
the floristic composition of grasslands through intersowing, a technique that
consists of artificially reintroducing the absent species, has been recommended
in the literature. However, the ecological theory behind this technology has
not always been made explicit, especially in those interventions that seek not
only to increase and improve the quality of forage offerings in the grasslands,
but also to conserve the predominantly native floristic resource at the same
time. The concept of species pool explains the patterns of local vegetation
variation in terms of regional processes, unifies the ecological, evolutionary
and dispersion aspects, and allows understanding the causes of diversity
patterns of floras that are observed for any region under study and constitutes
a solid scientific basis to understand and sustain the enrichment techniques of
degraded vegetation systems.
