Abundancia y distribución de dos escarabajos exóticos en Córdoba (Argentina) entre los años 2009 y 2016
Abstract
Arhopalus rusticus and Arhopalus syriacus are exotic species of Cerambycidae, which were first recorded in Córdoba in 2006. Their larvae sweep the phloem of pines. The objective of this investigation was to study the abundance and distribution of these species in the pine forests of the province from 2009 to 2016 with the purpose of contributing to the integrated management of these species. For this, 40 parcels of five Pinus elliottii trees were installed from 2008 to 2015. The next year, two 1m long logs were extracted per parcel. The abundance was quantified from October to April by examining the logs twice
a week. Distribution maps per species and year were made. The data were analyzed through generalized linear mixed models. In the time of this study, both species were recorded in all of the evaluated locations. The best model indicates that the variation in abundance responds to the species, the different locations and diameters of the pines and the time. Although in different locations, both species presented a peak in abundance in 2009. In the subsequent years, they reduced and maintained their abundance at low levels. From these results, it was hypothesized that A. syriacus and A. rusticus are irruptive species.
