Abstract

The aim of this work is to evaluate the productive, economic and
environmental potential impact of waste management in intensive animal
production systems (SIPA). Two alternatives were designed: a) with waste
management systems (CMR) by lagoons and its use as fertilizer, and b) without
waste management (SMR). The model LRNS predicts 25% more finished animals per
year on CMR and equivalent to 413 tonnes / year of fertilizer is used. Investments
in the SIPA CMR are $ 29.000.000 higher than in the SMR. CMR and SMR NPV is $
60.8 million and $ 8.8 million respectively, the first one show greater stability to
price changes and other variables. We conclude that incorporate the structure for
waste management with investments in the SIPA on this scale production improves
productive and economic results, although it requires greater investment effort.
