Manuscripts can be written in Spanish, Portuguese, or English and may be submitted in the following categories, corresponding to the sections of the journal Ab Intus:

Original Articles: These correspond to original scientific research works that are unpublished and scientifically appropriate, contributing new knowledge to the discipline. They must be organized according to the format specified below.

Short Communications: These are reports resulting from scientific research intended to communicate results of a more limited scope than full research articles, with a maximum length of 2000 words. The text should not be divided into sections, and the entire manuscript must not exceed 2000 words.

Technical Notes: These consist of concise descriptions of an original and innovative technique, development, procedure, or device based on research, aiming to provide a solution to a problem relevant to professional practice. The comparative advantages of the new technique for the respective professional discipline should be emphasized. The text should not be divided into sections, and the entire manuscript must not exceed 2000 words, with a maximum of 15 references and up to 4 tables and/or figures.

Case Reports: These consist of cases relevant to professional practice, either individually or collectively, which are valuable to communicate and discuss. The text should not be divided into sections, and the entire manuscript must not exceed 2000 words, with a maximum of 15 references and up to 4 tables and/or figures.

Review and/or Update Articles: These are reviews on specific aspects of current or emerging topics relevant to the discipline. They should not merely compile existing literature but should present topics with diverse opinions, where the author(s) provide an objective perspective by detailing scientific findings and opinions from various sources. These articles are generally processed by invitation from the Editorial Committee. However, if an author wishes to publish in this section, they must submit a proposal regarding the title and structure of the article for consideration by the Responsible Editor.

Manuscript Preparation and Submission

Ab Intus accepts original and unpublished manuscripts in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. All manuscripts must be prepared using a word processor such as Word, Open Word, or a compatible format. The page size must be A4 (29.7 x 21 cm), with a vertical orientation, 3 cm margins on the left and right, and 2.5 cm margins on the top and bottom. The font must be Times New Roman, size 12, with double spacing. Lines must be numbered continuously from the first page of the manuscript. Pages must be numbered consecutively at the bottom center.

To submit a manuscript, the following documents must be attached: the title page, the manuscript, the copyright transfer agreement, and the ethics committee approval from the primary author's institution.

Editorial Process and Review System

Submitted articles are first evaluated by the Local Editorial Committee and/or Advisory Committee to determine their relevance to the journal's theme. At this stage, plagiarism detection is conducted using specialized open-access digital tools. Any article found to have similarities with previously published work will be returned to the authors and excluded from publication. If the article passes this stage, it is sent to two external reviewers under a double-blind peer review system. In case of discrepancies in the evaluations, a third reviewer is consulted. Reviewers must inform the editor of any conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality regarding the material being evaluated. The final decision on publication is made by the Responsible Editor.

Title Page

The title page must include:

a) The title in the manuscript's language, left-aligned, in bold.

b) The translated title, left-aligned, in bold.

c) Full names of the author(s), placed two spaces below the title and left-aligned. The first letter of each name and surname should be capitalized. A superscript number should indicate the author's institutional affiliation. Authors should be separated by commas according to APA format. Below the names, the institutional affiliation should be listed, justified to the left. If authors share the same affiliation, it should be listed only once. If affiliations differ, they must be specified for each author. The corresponding author's email, postal address, and phone number should be indicated with an asterisk. Example:

Gabriel González1, Alejandro Pérez2

1- National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET).

2- Department of Public Health, Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, National University of Río Cuarto.

Each author’s ORCID identifier should also be provided. If not available, it can be created for free at orcid.org.

  • Corresponding author: Postal address, phone number, and email.

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should include: title (in Spanish or Portuguese, and its English translation), abstract (in Spanish or Portuguese, and its English translation), keywords (in Spanish or Portuguese, and their English translation), introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, and references. Short communications, technical notes, and case reports follow a similar structure but without dividing the text into sections.

Abstracts and Keywords

Abstracts should summarize the key aspects of objectives, materials and methods, results, and conclusions. The maximum length is 250 words for original articles and review articles, and 200 words for short communications, technical notes, and case reports. Abbreviations should not be used except for measurement units. The abstract in Spanish or Portuguese appears first, followed by keywords, then the English abstract and its corresponding keywords.

References

In-text citations should follow APA format, using parentheses for the author's surname, followed by a comma and the publication year, e.g., (Mannino, 2005). For two authors, use "and" (González and Campanario, 2007). For more than two authors, use "et al." (Golubic et al., 2008). If multiple works are cited, separate them with semicolons (Neuberger and Counsell, 2002; Buela Casal et al., 2006; Kaplan, 2008). References should be formatted according to APA, ISO 690, or equivalent standards.
